Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 2, 2026 · Last updated: May 2, 2026
The short version: Gone This Far™ processes all data on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal information, health data, or workout data. Period.
Who We Are
Gone This Far™ is built and operated by Intersog, Inc. ("Intersog," "we," "us," or "our"), a Chicago-based custom software firm. The app started as a personal project of Intersog's CEO, Igor Fedulov, a longtime runner and workout-statistics enthusiast who wanted to see what years of Apple Watch data actually add up to, without handing that data to anyone. Intersog brought it to market under that same on-device, no-server principle.
This privacy policy covers our iOS application Gone This Far™ ("the App") and our website at gonethisfar.app ("the Site"). Intersog is the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with the Site. The App processes data already on your device, locally, under your control.
Registered address: Intersog, Inc., 220 N Green St, 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL 60607, USA. intersog.com.
What Data the App Accesses
With your explicit permission, Gone This Far™ reads the following data from Apple HealthKit on your device:
- Workout history (activity type, date, duration, distance)
- Distance data (walking/running, cycling, swimming)
- Active energy burned (calories)
- Heart rate data (average and maximum during workouts)
- Workout routes (if available)
This data is accessed read-only. The App never writes to or modifies your Apple Health data.
Apple HealthKit Compliance
In accordance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines, we explicitly state:
- We use HealthKit data solely to compute and display your lifetime workout statistics, race detection, distance comparisons, and shareable visuals within the App.
- We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or any other use-based data mining purpose.
- We do not share HealthKit data with any third party without your explicit consent. The only way HealthKit-derived content leaves your device is if you choose to share a generated stat card via the iOS share sheet.
- We do not disclose HealthKit data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.
- You can revoke the App's HealthKit access at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Gone This Far™.
How Your Data Is Processed
All data processing happens entirely on your device. Specifically:
- Workout data is read from Apple HealthKit using Apple's official APIs
- Processed results (statistics, race detection, triathlon detection) are cached locally on your device using SwiftData
- The App does not use iCloud or CloudKit to sync data. Cached results stay on the device they were computed on.
- Share card images are rendered on your device and only leave your device if you explicitly choose to share them via the iOS share sheet
What We Do NOT Do
- We do not collect any personal information
- We do not transmit any data to any server, cloud service, or third party
- We do not require an account, login, email address, or any form of registration
- We do not use any analytics SDKs within the App itself
- We do not display advertisements
- We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way
- We do not use tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or any form of cross-app tracking
No Server, No Cloud
Gone This Far™ has no backend server. There is no database storing your information. There is no API your data is sent to. The App functions entirely offline after the initial download from the App Store.
Third-Party Services
The App itself contains no third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising frameworks. The only external services involved are Apple's App Store for distribution and Apple HealthKit for data access, both governed by Apple's own privacy policies.
If you choose to share a card via the iOS share sheet, the content is handled by whatever app or service you select (e.g., Instagram, Messages, Mail). We have no control over those third-party services.
Apple Diagnostics & App Store Metrics
Independent of Gone This Far™, Apple may collect anonymized crash diagnostics, performance metrics, and basic App Store usage data (downloads, regions, device types) and share aggregate, anonymized reports with us through App Store Connect. This data is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your iOS device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements). It is not linked to your identity, and we have no ability to identify individual users from it. You can opt out of sharing diagnostic data with developers through the same iOS setting.
In-App Purchases
If you make a purchase through the App (such as the optional tip jar), the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information.
Website Analytics & Cookies
Our website at gonethisfar.app uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site (page views, referral sources, aggregate engagement). Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (typically _ga, _gid) and processes IP addresses, which Google truncates. This is separate from the App, which contains no analytics whatsoever.
We do not use session-replay tools, advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking on the Site.
You can opt out of website analytics by:
- Using a browser ad blocker or privacy extension
- Enabling "Global Privacy Control" (GPC) in your browser; we treat a GPC signal as an opt-out of analytics tracking
- Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since the App collects no information from anyone, this is inherently satisfied.
Data Retention
Since we don't collect any data, there is nothing to retain. Locally cached data on your device is removed when you delete the App.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data-protection laws including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA), and similar frameworks. These typically include the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
- Access the personal information held about you
- Rectify inaccurate personal information
- Delete (erasure) personal information
- Restrict or object to processing
- Portability of your personal information in a machine-readable format
- Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights
- Withdraw consent at any time
Because Gone This Far™ does not collect, store, transmit, or process personal information on our servers, we hold no personal data about you. There is therefore nothing to access, rectify, delete, port, or restrict. The Site collects only aggregated, anonymized analytics as described above.
You can revoke the App's HealthKit access at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Gone This Far™. Deleting the App removes all locally cached data from your device.
To exercise any right or ask a question, contact us at the email address below. We will respond within 30 days (or 45 days under CCPA, where permitted).
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA Notice)
In the past 12 months, we have not collected, sold, or shared the personal information of any California resident through the App. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA. We do not use sensitive personal information for any purpose that requires disclosure under CPRA § 1798.121.
International Users & Data Transfers
Intersog, Inc. operates from the United States. Because the App does not collect or transmit personal data, no international transfers of your personal data occur via the App. The Site is hosted in the United States; if you visit it from outside the U.S., the limited analytics data described above is processed in the U.S.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. If we ever introduce any form of data collection (we don't plan to), we will notify users within the App before any such change takes effect and require explicit opt-in consent.
Governing Law
This privacy policy and any dispute arising out of it are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing in this clause limits any non-waivable statutory rights you may have under the privacy laws of your jurisdiction.
